ATH – NELSONVILLE BIKE PATH PROJECT
City of Nelsonville, Athens County, Ohio.


RJM is responsible for the planning and engineering design of this project for the City of Nelsonville. This project includes 7,800-feet of new bike path that will extend the Hock-Hocking Adena Bikeway into Nelsonville. This project requires the relocation of existing railroad track and a modification to an existing railroad bridge to accommodate the new bike path in the vicinity of Hocking College. RJM is responsible for providing the following services associated with this project:

• Preparation of a feasibility study, certified construction cost estimates, and
   TEA and Clean Ohio Trails Fund grant applications
• Boundary surveying necessary to determine right-of-way limits and property boundaries for
   preparation of standard highway easements, temporary easements for construction, and
   right-of-way plans.
• Topographic surveying necessary to prepare plan and profile drawings for 7540 feet of
   bike path design.
• Modifications to an existing historic railroad truss bridge over the Hocking River that
   includes the removal of an existing track and installation of a new concrete bridge deck for
   the proposed bike path
• Demolition and relocation design of existing railroad track for the Hocking Valley Scenic
   Railway (HVSRR), including the relocation of two switches, removal of three sections of
   track, and the construction of three new railroad crossings.
• Phase 1 Study to determine the potential impact on the Hocking Valley Railroad Historic
   District. This study included the structural assessment of a Concrete Coaling Tower
   scheduled for demolition and owned by the HVSRR.
